PROJECT DESCRIPTION

For this project, I designed three album covers for Dominic Fike, focusing on capturing the essence of his music through strong visuals. My goal was to create designs that were bold, colorful, and texture-rich, using striking imagery and typography to reflect the unique feeling of each album. I prioritized impactful imagery and experimented with different typefaces and treatments to complement the overall aesthetic and mood of each project.

WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG

The design for this album explores themes of uncertainty and introspection. I used a black and white image of a lone figure walking, edited to create a dissolving effect, symbolizing the feeling of being lost in thought or fading away. A pop of orange in the warped typography adds a striking contrast against the black and white image, drawing the viewer's eye and creating a sense of urgency. The wiggly, distorted text mirrors the dissolving effect of the image, further reinforcing the album's themes of things going awry and adding to the overall sense of disorientation.

THE KISS OF VENUS

For this album cover, I envisioned a design that captured the classical beauty associated with the goddess Venus. I used a black and white image of a classical sculpture, depicting a statue that appears broken and repaired, adding a sense of history and fragility. To complement this classic feel, I chose a serif typeface for the title, warping it slightly to add a contemporary edge while ensuring legibility. The warped typography adds a touch of the unexpected, drawing the viewer's eye while remaining grounded in the classic aesthetic.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT ME

For this album cover, I wanted the centerpiece to be an image that feels lonely since the album's name is "Don't Forget About Me." I decided on an image of a structure that seems like it has been abandoned. It could appear like a lookout of some sort that people would go up to together, but is now left alone. It gives that feeling because of the chipping paint and rusty metal on the structure, but it also feels that way because of the way the image is edited. It looks vintage and textured, like an old photograph. The text, while just outlines, draws the attention of the viewer due to the shape of the letters. The outlines allow the viewer to see through the text onto the background to continue the vintage feel.
